RFID in Europe AISBL is a not-for-profit organization established in 2012. RFID in Europe's principle goal is to promote the adoption of Radio Frequency Identification and related technology solutions enabling small and medium sized organizations throughout Europe to gain competitive advantage through their best use. RFID in Europe connects with European end-users, operators, solution providers, universities, research establishments, non-government and government organizations and all other European stakeholders through own initiatives and promotion of national projects via our international network. RFID in Europe is an extension of a European Commission FP7 Thematic Network called RACE networkRFID initiated in 2009.

(Institute of Technology, Tralee, Wireless and Mobility Research Group - ITT)

The Institute of Technology, Tralee (ITT, www.ittralee.ie) is based on two campuses, with a community of over 3,500 students. ITT has a growing research community of over 400 academic staff and researchers. One of the Research Centres in the Institute is the Centre for Innovation in Distributed Systems (CIDS). Dr. Pat Doody is a co-founder and the Director of CIDS which was formed as collaboration between the Wireless and Mobility Research Group in the Institute of Technology, Tralee and the MIT Forum for Supply Chain and is also an affiliate member of MIT Energy Initiative.

The primary research focus is in the area of Knowledge Discovery in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Internet of Things (IOT) systems with a particular interest in projects that are applied and industrial in nature. The group has been leading the drive towards RFID and IOT adoption by Irish industry which is proportionally low compared with other EU countries Other research expertise covers Artificial Intelligence, Sensor Networks, Reality Mining, Middleware Development, Mobile Software Development among others.


Trevor J. Peirce - Finance Office

An active “RFID in Europe” leader since the start of the preceding EC funded “RACE networkRFID” project in 2009, Trevor is the current Activity Leader – Public Policy and also the Finance Officer. 

Since 2006 Trevor provides consulting resources to industry and governments internationally through the company AVANTA Global. A qualified Manufacturing, Industrial Engineer and Project Manager (PRINCE II) Trevor has a wealth of experience in RFID/NFC/RTLS/IoT and related technologies, their applications, solutions, technical standards, regulations and public policy. Trevor offers services based upon past roles as:

  • Standards Director of EPCglobal, GS1 Head Office, Brussels
  • DHL/Deutsche Post RFID Programme Director, Post Tower, Bonn
  • Engineering Manager Global Coordination Centre, DHL WorldWide Express, Brussels

Trevor’s technology end user international industry experience includes retail (FMCG/apparel), healthcare, automotive, aerospace extending from manufacturing/assembly, transport, logistics through to customer processes. Trevor has worked for the European Commission and in support of multiple European funded projects and initiatives focused upon or associated with RFID such as the IERC, CASAGRAS, GRIFS, EC RFID Recommendation Working Group, EC RFID Mandate and CHIEFS.

A number of projects also profit from Trevor’s experience managing an assembly team of 150 employees and line-side inventories as a Manufacturing Engineer and in designing and producing the world’s most technically advanced commercial oil well service vessels as a Naval Architect.


Trevor has led and contributed to multiple international award winning projects which have been merited for their innovation and execution. Planning, process, communication, customer focus, determination and innovation are keys to Trevor’s successes. 

Additionally Trevor has experience in sales, procurement (trained by ATK) and in media and communications orchestration.

Trevor was born in Northern Ireland, is married with 3 children and has been living in Belgium since 1993. As recreation Trevor is interested in participating in many sports and is a Royal Yachting Association qualified sailing instructor.


Philippe de Matteis, MSc, MBA, is sounder and CEO of DMPH Consulting, a company devoted to the implementation of contactless innovative technologies, RFID, NFC, RTLS, IoT.

He was previously RFID European Business Manager for OMRON Electronics and VP marketing and sales of Stella electronics.

He founded FILRFID, the non-for-profit RFID players French association, member of the board of CNrfid, the French government rfid centre.

He has been involved in RFID and Contact-less business, applications and technologies, since 1996. He consults on RFID, NFC, Auto-ID, and related IT systems implementation and process re-engineering.



Our objective is to establish a Nordic know-how cluster, to be a link between customers, suppliers, universities and other education establishments, the media, decision-makers and authorities in the Nordic region. To increase knowledge by disseminating information in various ways and taking an active role in mass media, fairs and exhibitions and other trendsetting events. We are continuously organizing exhibitions, workshops and seminars along with the annual GOLD TAG awards for customers and suppliers. And every year we hand over a Scholarship, RFID Nordic Stipendium, for best new examination work /study for solutions based on RFID.

Mr Ove Canemyr, Chairman of RFID Nordic.Mr Canemyr has a long experience with RFID with focus on media contacts and excellent skills in marketing as well as setting up exhibitions, seminars and workshops.



Mr Gunnar Ivansson is recognized as an RFID guru in the Nordic region with several sucessful RFID installations in many different areas. Mr Ivansson is a frequent speaker at conferances and seminars and has excellent technical skills.


Stephane Pique.I was fortuned to start with RFID in 1993 and am successful active as a worldwide recognized RFID Business Consultant. Previously I was working for several leading RFID companies such as Philips Semiconductors, Kudelski, Sokymat, Global ID, Seeburger and GS1 EPCglobal. My business hands-on experience brought me to the position of knowing RFID from all necessary components such as the chip, the transponder and card, NFC, the middleware and data management up to the complete RFID solution, processes and standards involved. Within the last years, I was speaking at more than 100 major RFID shows around the world and am also member of the OSEC pool of experts mandated by the Swiss State Secretary of Economical Affairs (seco). I am also the co-founder, COO and VP EMEA of the International RFID Business Association.
